Description
SILVER SPRING, MD â More than a dozen people were displaced after a fire in the Flower Branch Apartments forced residents to evacuate and one person to jump from a second-story window. Fire crews were called in after 4 a.m. Saturday to fight the flames. There were no injuries.
It was likely an accidental fire caused by a candle left burning on a plastic bin, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer said on Twitter. The damage is estimated at about $375,000.
Donations are being collected for the residents, many of whom were housed at a local shelter, according to the Flower Branch apartments.
