SUMMIT, NJ — A Summit man was hit by a pickup truck while trying to cross Route 80 on Saturday night. He was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
Michael Gachko, 49, had parked his vehicle on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes before trying to cross the highway on Jan. 8. He was hit by a Chevrolet pickup truck near milepost 36.6 in Rockaway Township at around 9:50 p.m., according to NJ State Police Sgt. Philip Curry.
Gachko was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
Route 80 was temporarily shut down for the crash investigation, according to this Twitter post from 511NJ I80.
