Manchester PZC Sets Tentative Date To Review Walmart Expansion

MANCHESTER, CT — Plans to expand the online pickup area at the Manchester Walmart are tentatively scheduled to be discussed by the local Planning and Zoning C0mmission on Jan. 19. A special exception modification permit was applied for midway through last month. The plans call for an additional 5,460 square feet to be onto the existing building, according to planning officials. A new sign and revised parking layout have also been proposed. The Walmart grocery pickup area is located on the Buckland Hills Drive side of the property near the access driveway. The area is tricky with a limited amount of pickup parking spots and a tight traffic pattern. Compounding the problem are customers that park in the drop-off bays that are not at the store for grocery pickups and cars zooming into the lot trying to beat oncoming traffic on Buckland Hills Drive.
