Here are the top five stories today in Irving: Sad news out of Grand Prairie: Two individuals were killed in a rollover crash near the 3700 block of East Main Street on Friday evening. The crash incident involved just one vehicle, which drove into a ditch. The driver and passenger were taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. Their identities have not yet been released. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)Another scary crash happened on I-35 near Empire Central Drive this weekend. Early Saturday morning, a black Lexus crashed into the back of a semi-truck. Rescuers were on the scene because of an earlier accident and were able to extricate the driver, who was pinned under the semi-truck. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. (FOX 4 Dallas)This weekend brought the highest number ever of new COVID-19 cases in Dallas County. Long lines at testing sites gave visual evidence of the omicron surge, with around 30 percent of tests returning positive results. All told, more than 20,100 new cases were reported in Dallas County within the last week.
