People that want original music will seek it out. Those that don't will seek out stuff they like. If there were more venues for original music that would be fantastic, but to lash out against a musician for playing music is absurd. Take the argument to those that book and those that host, not the players. I've done both and honestly had more success with originals but I would never say that one player is taking food off another's plate because of what they play. Simply put, it's your choice...if you don't dig covers, don't go to those venues and tell them why you won't. Leave the players out of it. Don't like burgers? Go to a chicken joint; I bet you don't go to the burger place first and cuss out the cashier.
