When you really think about the time that Ruth played the game, baseball was in trouble. The Black Sox Scandal lingered over the game. Babe saved the game. His young fans, in their love for him, helped protect the national pastime. Even when Babe was at the end of his career, the children remained loyal. Together, as recalled in a special anonymous story, Babe and his youthful fans taught us a lesson not about just baseball but about kindness. Read the story in my blog.
