We will learn when and how to change the blade, what blade is appropriate, how to tune up the band saw to get the best possible cut.
The purpose of the series is to give a cohort of inexperienced students the fundamental skills that are needed to safely and skillfully work in the woodshop. At the end of this series, each student should feel confident with the tools in the Los Alamos Makers wood shop and be able to complete projects in the shop successfully. Students will be allowed to pick and choose from the classes as desired, but it is highly recommended to do as many of the courses as possible, because most projects require the use of a variety of tools in the shop.
The band saw is primarily used to make curved cuts. How to use the band saw safely and effectively. We will learn when and how to change the blade, what blade is appropriate, how to tune up the band saw to get the best possible cut (this needs to be done often!). We will perform a variety of cut styles to build technique.
