Press release from Hopkins Public Schools: January 7, 2022 Beautiful Education is a new after school program in Hopkins for secondary school students that teaches the fundamentals of maintaining and styling hair as well as hair history and culture. Scholars travel to 369 Studios in Northeast Minneapolis where they are taught by the salon stylist and owner Mary Stephens. All scholars become Barbicide Certified and get to keep many of the tools they use in the program including their clips and styling products! The program was founded by Paris Timmons, a Hopkins Summer & Extended Learning Coordinator. Paris wrote a grant to the Hopkins Education Foundation who generously funded the class. Paris and Mary plan to continue to seek fundraising opportunities to offer Beautiful Education to Hopkins scholars in the future. This press release was produced by Hopkins Public Schools.
