Press release from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office: Joni Money January 8, 2022 Around 2:15 PM this afternoon, Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to Shady Grove Road at Porter Road in West Jefferson County in response to a body located on the side of the roadway by a passerby.  The initial call from the passerby was that the unidentified male victim may have been a pedestrian who had been struck. After further investigation, it is not believed that the victim was struck by a vehicle.  Jefferson County Detectives are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the event.  The Jefferson County Coroner's office is working to identify the victim, as well as determine the cause and manner of death.
