Acting Group Forming: The Human Experience

I am an experienced actor taking the first steps in forming an acting group that will give live performances and present recorded performances on YouTube. The basis of this acting group is unusual, so please read the description carefully before contacting me. You do not need to be an experienced actor to join. DESCRIPTION The Human Experience is an acting group based on probing the deepest experiences of human beings, and then turning those experiences into transformative dramatic art for audiences. The process requires a combination of courage, honesty and imagination. We all have had deep experiences that have shaped us, influenced us, inspired us, and in some cases limited, confined or even damaged us. Sharing these experiences in a helpful, responsible and courageous way can bring about deep insight, both for ourselves as an acting group, and for audiences. The process for developing dramatic material for The Human Experience involves first of all not an audition but an interview over Zoom. Those chosen for the group will be chosen for the depth of their stories, and their personal qualities in presenting those stories. I am the Artistic Director of the group, but the group is also a cooperative collective, with everyone providing input, and everyone having influence. If you become a member, you will have the opportunity to present new material of your own, provide suggestions for the material presented by others, and participate in the process of shaping everyone's contributions into transformative dramatic art. We'll start with interviews and a selection process individually over Zoom, then eventually meet as a group over Zoom to present developed material to each other for further refinement. Once we have woven the various segments into a cohesive show, we will begin rehearsals mostly over Zoom, but occasionally in person in locations in the Boston area. It will take some time to develop a complete, refined show, so please plan to savor the process. Once we have a complete show I will rent a theater in Boston for live performances, and we will simultaneously work on recording and editing material to be presented on YouTube. Just so you know, the idea for this group arose from a combination of the work of Pina Bausch, a German choreographer, and the work of the Dutch dramatic cooperative Het Werkteater.
