Learn how to make dumplings and explore the Welcome (M)Art Resident artist Ruoyi Shi invites you to learn the art of making dumplings. Come cook, eat and share stories in celebration of the 2022 Lunar New Year with her exhibition, Food Envelopes. In many cultures, people insert letters or objects in food; using food as an envelope for secrets, or transform regular messages into a revelation: moon cakes, fortune cookies, king cake, or new year dumplings. Sometimes, the information we learn with our teeth and tongue can be more convincing and powerful. The Welcome Project is a social enterprise that supports our newest neighbors with classes in ceramics and art skills as well as store management training while bringing new life to the business district of Camp Washington, Cincinnati.
