Description

The Swoon Quilt is a very popular pattern that yields excellent variations based on various fabric lines. THE SWOON QUILT is for the Confident Beginner Instructor: Lou Diefenderfer March 19, 2022 (Saturday) Class time: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm Price: $35 The Swoon Quilt is a very popular pattern that yields excellent variations based on various fabric lines. Use vivid solid backgrounds paired with modern, traditional, Kaffe or fat quarter packs to yield very different designs. You’re only making two easy blocks (half square triangles & flying geese) that come together to make your Swoon Block. Blocks are 24.5” square. They can be used as a single, table runner, four block quilt or 9 block quilt. Feel free to Google Swoon Quilts to get an idea of all the different colors available to you! Lou's enthusiasm is contagious and she looks forward to meeting each of you! Swoon Quilt Class Fabric Requirements: If you’re making all nine blocks, follow requirements on the pattern: 18 fat quarters 4-1/4 yards background fabric 3/4 yard binding fabric 5 yards of backing fabric Batting For each block you will need two contracting fat quarters & 1/2 yard of background fabric. (I recommend solid for background: white, gray, black, navy, or cream. You want it to look nice with your fat quarters.) (If you’re only making four blocks, you will only need 8 fat quarters, 2-1/2 yards of background fabric & 1/2 yard for binding) these measurements do not include my outside border. My optional outside border: 1 yard fabric #1 & 1/2 yard of fabric #2. Cutting mat, long ruler, & rotary cutter with a new sharp blade. Optional: you may bring a small iron & ironing mat. Sewing machine in working order with 1/4” foot. Basic sewing supplies: small scissors for cutting threads, seam ripper, pins & thread. Marking pen: disappearing or water soluble. (I use frixion pens) Sense of humor! The Eastern Shore has its own unique heritage. Surrounded by water on all sides with fertile fields in between, we share a rich and diverse history. With respect for that common past, honor to our present artists, and an eye to passing our legacy to future generations, the Fiber Arts Center of the Eastern Shore will tell the story of the rural tradition of fiber arts and its journey to the present day Eastern Shore experience.
