LuminoCity Festival Goes Dark In Manhasset On Jan. 9

MANHASSET, NY — LuminoCity Festival has lit up Manhasset's Whitney Pond Park for nearly two months. But on Sunday, it'll be lights out for the dazzling winter wonderland. "During these uncertain times, we are grateful that we could bring the LuminoCity Festival to North Hempstead," Xiaoyi Chen, the founder of LuminoCity, told Patch. The temporary exhibit features dozens of illuminated works of art and one-of-a-kind handmade sculptures. This year's festival theme is Shine Again, and was "inspired by the power and warmth of light overcoming darkness," according to officials. Since its debut on Nov. 12, 2021, LuminoCity Festival has welcomed more than 31,000 attendees. "While we are sad that the LuminoCity Festival is coming to an end, we are thrilled with the success of this event over the last several months," Councilmember Veronica Lurvey said in a statement. "Whether we are hosting a concert, a drive-in movie, a fireworks show, or even a live drone show, our main goal is to provide our residents with hidden gems that they might otherwise think they can only find at Jones Beach or in New York City." Tickets are being sold for timed admission entry. All attendees ages 3 and up must have a ticket. Free parking is being offered at the Macy's across the street.
