Description

I have some Epidobates anthonyi "Zarayunga" thumbnail dart frog tadpoles up for grabs! I can and do raise them into frogs myself, but I thought I would offer some for sale in the tadpole stage because it is really fun to watch them grow and sprout legs and become little froglets. These tadpoles are all about 3-4 weeks past hatching from their eggs, and it will be another 6-10 weeks until they have all of their legs and are ready to come out of the water. If you want just the tadpoles, it is $5 per tadpole or 10 tadpoles for $40. Max order 20 tadpoles. If you want a "tadpole kit" with all the supplies you need (food, container, indian almond leaves to make the "tadpole tea" they swim in), it is $25 for a 4-tadpole kit or $40 for an 8-tadpole kit. Tadpoles and kits are free for teachers who want to use them for educational purposes! Just let me know. These tadpoles will probably all make it through the stage where they grow their front and back legs and start to get cute little stripes, but the transition out of the water and the first couple of weeks of being a froglet is a really delicate time, especially for the thumbnail species because they are so tiny. If you aren't careful about it, they probably won't survive through it, which is normal and okay if you just wanted to watch them grow and didn't want actual adult frogs. If you want to raise them into proper frogs and are careful about helping their transition, you will hopefully have a survival rate of 60-80%, but it can vary a lot depending on both husbandry and luck. **Important note: because this is a really small species of dart frog, the froglets will *not* be big enough to eat melanogaster flies right away when they come out of the water. You will need to have springtails on hand to feed them instead once they have absorbed their tail. If you are interested, for an additional $5 I can give you a small springtail culture and some springtail food, and by the time the froglets come out of the water, you will have plenty.
