Untold Stories: Hook, Line, and Sinker: The History of Fishing. After school history and craft series. What better way to learn history than through using actual historical artifacts and creating crafts to instill knowledge? Enroll your child in Pejepscot History Center's 2022 Untold Stories program. This month's session is: Hook, Line, and Sinker: The History of Fishing, taught by Carol Masterson Fishing has been important to Maine since human beings first arrived in our area. The Wabanaki fished the ocean, rivers, and lakes seasonally and fish of all kinds was a staple of their diet. Every subsequent group of people to arrive in Maine has, in some way, benefitted from the fishing industry and culture. Learn about different eras of fishing in Brunswick, Topsham, and Harpswell through stories of people who fished for their livelihood or just for fun, and from fishing-related collection items. Children will get special access to our new Spring exhibition all about the history of fishing! Pejepscot History Center is a non-profit, educational organization charged with preserving the collective heritage of Brunswick, Harpswell, and Topsham. The Society owns and operates the Joshua L. Chamberlain House Museum and the Skolfield-Whittier House, both of which are open to the public Memorial Day-Columbus Day.
