Untold Stories: Nice to Meet You! Victorian Calling Cards & Social Customs. After school history and craft series. What better way to learn history than through using actual historical artifacts and creating crafts to instill knowledge? Enroll your child in Pejepscot History Center's 2022 Untold Stories program. This month is: Nice to Meet You! Victorian Calling Cards & Social Customs, taught by Aimée Keithan on Thursday, March 3, from 3:30-5pm In the days before cell phones and the internet, nearly everyone had a unique “calling card”. These paper cards were used to introduce yourself to new people, send messages, and even tell people you’d stopped by if they weren’t home. They could be simple or very elaborate. Everyone from young ladies just out of high school to famous men with notable careers had them! In this session we’ll talk about what we can tell about a card’s owner by looking at it, and children will create their own unique calling card to take home. Pejepscot History Center is a non-profit, educational organization charged with preserving the collective heritage of Brunswick, Harpswell, and Topsham. The Society owns and operates the Joshua L. Chamberlain House Museum and the Skolfield-Whittier House, both of which are open to the public Memorial Day-Columbus Day. For further information please call the Center at 207.729.6606 or find us at www.pejepscothistorical.org.
