Description

Untold Stories: Time Capsule 1788. After school history and craft series. What better way to learn history than through using actual historical artifacts and creating crafts to instill knowledge? Pejepscot History Center's first Untold Stories session of 2022 is: Time Capsule: 1788, taught by James Tanzer on Thursday, February 3, from 3:30-5pm Do your child have a favorite possession? What makes it so special to them? In this session, they'll discover the possessions that were important to Quash Winchell, a formerly enslaved Black man who lived in Topsham in the 1700s. They’ll be able to see and touch some of the kinds of possessions Quash owned, and we’ll talk about the stories they might tell us about him. Have your child bring a favorite possession of their own to share, and they'll make a mini time capsule to take home! Pejepscot History Center is a non-profit, educational organization charged with preserving the collective heritage of Brunswick, Harpswell, and Topsham. The Society owns and operates the Joshua L. Chamberlain House Museum and the Skolfield-Whittier House, both of which are open to the public Memorial Day-Columbus Day. For further information please call the Center at 207.729.6606 or find us at www.pejepscothistorical.org.
