If you are a great player and need money you should find the bands who do the reunion circuits with fill in members or find yesterday's meat who needs a backing band and land yourself a steady tour gig. Those gigs are not on here, buddy. People here are starting bands as a collective effort sometimes for fun sometimes for a chance at making some money down the road. I have known some people who passed on bands that later on went on to be successful. They regretted the decision. They felt so insulted there was no instant money for them. So they passed and found wanker bands that could pay them out of desperation. Unfortunately one bloke I knew he passed on a band that hit the jackpot. He regretted the decision so much he did himself in. It was too much to bear I guess watching those guys on tv and constantly on the radio and becoming rich. It wasn't about being paid, nobody was getting paid, it was bad judgment, he thought the band wouldn't get anywhere. I have known two guys that got thrown out of projects that got successful, because of their drink or drugs or reliability was a problem, and another who got thrown out of something else because he wanted to constantly change the leaders vision and the original focus. They messed up and got nowhere. Choose wisely. And follow the leaders. Find the winners. Or you will be in the losers circle. If you think something can sell you should join it if you're after money. The opportunities are few and far between and almost never is closer to the truth. If you are set on doing sessions or joining on a paid basis taking advantage of a lack of quality musicians then you made your bed and should pull the covers over your head and cry because most people are turning out computer based microwave music. They believe they are great in most instances and think they do not need a guy from rent a drummer. Their programming on GarageBamd is, ahem, stellar. They upload to whatever and never play live anyway. But in band land here most cases nobody can afford to pay your rent and their own rent. If someone with solid music and a clear vision can offer you a chance at a ride to the top it's maybe worth putting your ego aside. When I look at bands here I ask myself one question. Will it sell? Can you tell if something will sell? Or are you looking for wanks with deep pockets? Are you so greedy that you would let a good opportunity slip through the cracks because things got mixed up in your head and then you choose the people going nowhere because they will throw some chump change your way every now and again?
