Part-time newspaper delivery driver

Chicago Star Media, a local newspaper company, is seeking a reliable delivery driver to drop off newspaper bundles one week per month at approximately 330 locations throughout several downtown Chicago neighborhoods (Streeterville, the Loop, River North, River West, Gold Coast, West Loop and South Loop). Dropoff locations include residential buildings, newspaper boxes/racks, grocery stores and other businesses. The driver will be expected to work eight hours a day and will be paid a flat rate of $200/day, for a guaranteed total of $1,000/week. Drivers typically average around 38-40 hours to complete all the stops, and the route must be finished within five business days (in the event of a severe snowstorm or other dangerous driving conditions, additional time will be allowed to finish the route). If the route is completed in fewer than five days, the driver will still receive the full $1,000, plus a bonus of $200. We typically print the paper around the 27th-29th of each month and have all papers delivered by the 6th of the following month. Start times for each delivery day are flexible -- for instance, the driver could choose to work from 5 a.m.-1 p.m. -- but must begin no later than 9 a.m. We recommend using a larger vehicle capable of navigating through mild to moderate snow for deliveries during winter months, ideally a van, truck, or full-size sedan. The ideal candidate is responsible and hardworking with excellent communication skills and a track record of reliability. Prior delivery experience is a plus.
