Description
EAST HAVEN, CT — East Haven residents looking for a COVID-19 test may be able to get their hands on one over the next few days.
The town has announced its second test and N95 mask distribution event, which will be held on Sunday at the Industrial Park on Commerce Street from 10 a.m. to noon (or until supplies have been depleted). Anyone who arrives early will be turned away, officials said.
Community members must provide proof of residency — for example, a driver's license or State of Connecticut identification card — and must be at least 18 years old. Attendees should have identification ready to be presented when they arrive.
Town officials, in collaboration with neighboring towns and the East Shore Health District, established the criteria for eligibility. Kits are scarce, officials said.
"Please wear a mask at the distribution point," officials said in a news release. "If you have received a kit at the last distribution, please be considerate and do not participate in this event."
Additionally, East Haven residents who are homebound are invited to sign up for a COVID-19 test kit delivery.
The town will give away 200 test kits to its homebound residents, with a limit of one kit per household. Residents have until Monday, Jan. 10 to register for a delivery, and the East Haven Fire Department will deliver them the evening of Jan. 11.
As of Friday afternoon, 18 of the 200 available kits had been reserved.
