More Free At-Home COVID-19 Test Kits To Be Distributed In Darien

DARIEN, CT — The state recently provided Darien with a second supply of at-home rapid COVID-19 tests, which will be distributed for free Saturday afternoon along with masks, town officials said. According to a post on the town's Facebook page, Darien has received 1,260 test kits and a supply of N95 masks. The test kits, which have two tests in each box, will be handed out to Darien residents during a drive-thru distribution event from noon to 3 p.m. at Darien High School. One box will be distributed per vehicle while masks will be distributed as long as supplies last, town officials said. Proof of residency is required to receive a test kit. Walk-ins with proof of residency will be helped between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. depending on the supply. "As with the previous distribution, there aren't enough tests for everyone in town," the post reads. "If you received tests last week, please be considerate of others in the community and refrain from taking additional tests this week." Vehicles can enter the school from Noroton Avenue and exit via Nutmeg Lane. High School Lane will be blocked during the event, officials said. Town officials also noted traffic on surrounding streets will be heavy during the event, so drivers are asked to avoid the area if they are not accessing the distribution center. "You do not need to report your results to public health authorities," the post reads, "but you should tell those that you have spent time with recently if you test positive so that they can get tested and protect others too." A COVID-19 booster clinic scheduled for Saturday at Town Hall is fully booked, however the town has scheduled another clinic for Tuesday morning, officials said. Interested residents can register through the VAMS portal. Darien will also host a pediatric COVID-19 vaccination clinic Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at Town Hall.
