LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A barn caught fire in Upperville on Thursday morning and drew firefighters from Fauquier County and Loudoun County to fight the blaze. Upperville is located along the border of the two counties. The fire was first reported around 1 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6. Firefighters responded to the scene of the blaze in the 8500 block of John Mosby Highway in Upperville. Units from Middleburg, Aldie, Philomont and Purcellville, along with units from Fauquier County and Mount Weather were dispatched to the scene, according to a report from Loudoun County Fire and Rescue. At the scene, a heavy, timber residential style barn estimated to be 10,000 square feet was engulfed in flames. The fire had extended to nearby outbuildings, machinery, and a camper, officials said. There were no people or animals in the barn when the fire broke out, according to a report from Loudoun County Fire and Rescue. Crews used defensive operations to protect nearby structures while they extinguished the main fire. Most of the fire was extinguished by 1:30 a.m., authorities said. Crews stayed on the scene for several hours extinguishing smaller fires and hotspots. The Fire Marshal's Office in Loudoun County is currently investigating the blaze. They have not released a possible cause for the fire or any monetary estimate of the damages. No injuries were reported, officials said.
