Morning, people of Salt Lake City! It's me again, Joseph Peterson, your host of the Salt Lake City Daily. First, today's weather: Some sun, then clouds. High: 48 Low: 33. Here are the top 4 stories in Salt Lake City today: The Sugar House neighborhood is fast becoming a veritable second "downtown" for Salt Lake City, and the rapid growth it's experienced in recent years is by no means slowing down. With Utah's scant housing market, it comes to some as welcome news that builders are at work in Sugar House adding more than 1,400 new homes in medium-rise housing developments in the densely urban neighborhood. (buildingsaltlake.com) Are you looking for a job? Your Salt Lake City Patch has featured this story before but the need to fully staff up in order to open temporary homeless shelters remains dire. Should the city meet its staffing needs, then 250 beds in a Ramada Inn on North Temple can be made ready for use. (fox13now.com) The University of Utah has chosen former Department of Public Safety Commissioner Keith Squires as the school's new chief safety officer. In a position created as part of the set of reforms put in place in response to the murder of U Student Lauren McCluskey, Keith will be the second person to lead the office.
