In response to my "hoaxes" post, s&a Smith emailed me to explain the cyclical pattern of ice ages over billions of years. Thanx. Google "Aral Sea shrinkage". It's not global warming, but it demonstrates how man's tinkering can cause permanent, devastating ecological damage. In a nutshell: To increase its cotton production, Russia diverted water from the two rivers that fed the Aral Sea in order to irrigate cotton fields. Rainfall in the Aral Sea region is less than 4 inches per year; so with the river water diverted elsewhere, the sea level has gone down over 50 feet, leaving fishing boats rusting in what is now a desert. Also, the toxins in fertilizers and insecticides went down river into the shrinking sea, killing the remaining fish. Took about sixty years. Virtually the entire scientific community say global warming from burning fossil fuels is real, it's a thing. The few "scientists" who disagree virtually ALL get their paychecks from the oil industry, directly or indirectly. If you have a beachfront condo in Miami, you may soon be able to fish from the balcony; parking may be a bitch, though. Some self-proclaimed "scientist" in the DeKalb area posted a long rebuttal. It's so spot on that he missed. Instead of the "politics" section, it's in the "rants and raves" section. Some scientist!. I think it's the same guy who runs the big company, but has all his assets out of the country, and is himself leaving any decade now. To paraphrase another CL poster, it's amazing how many high-powered businessmen and Nobel-laureate class scientists post here n CL. UPDATE. Now the DeKalb genius has posted here, quoting studies that "refutate" my claims. You've just stupidated, DeKalb.
