The Redistricting Task Force on Thursday selected seven submitted maps for further consideration as members work to choose a single map to be forwarded to the City Council.
The task force reviewed 26 proposed maps; the seven that were selected will now be reviewed by outside legal counsel. A new 10-district map is expected to be in place in late March ahead of the May 2023 municipal elections.
The seven proposed maps selected for further consideration (listed in descending order with maps receiving the most points listed first):
At 6 p.m. Jan. 13 in the City Council Chamber at City Hall, the task force will conduct a public hearing on the seven selected maps. Any member of the public who wishes to address the task force during the public presentations portion of the meeting must register by 4 p.m. on the day of the meeting. Registered speakers may make their comments in-person or via call-in option. Comments are limited to three minutes per registered speaker. To register as a speaker, contact Melissa Brunner in the City Secretary's Office by email or at 817-392-6156.
The creators of each of the seven selected maps are encouraged to register to speak and attend Thursday's hearing to discuss their proposed map.
