BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Trussville resident who is a student at the Alabama School of Fine Arts was recently chosen as a finalist in a nationwide arts competition. ASFA sophomore Nalin Reed is one of only 18 students nationwide to be named a YoungArts finalist, according to a Trussville Tribune report.
The finalist award recognizes work that "demonstrates exceptional technique; a strong, sophisticated, nuanced, and clear artistic point of view; and a depth of thinking/performance that far exceeds the level of peers at this career stage," the Tribune report said.
Finalists are also eligible to be nominated to become U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts, one of the highest honors given to high school seniors, bestowed by the President of the United States.
