Steely Dan

Meets

Columbia TN

Description

Anyone interested in a Steely Dan tribute band? I play guitar (studied jazz in college, played in a bunch of bands over the last few decades, have been lucky to jam and play with some of the best, and know a few things). I feel like an SD tribute would be fun because the songs are fun and require a reasonably high level of talent. I can do the organization part and will let everyone know what's going on. What I'm looking for: -You can play (legit- read/write charts, play in time/tune etc...) -You show up to rehearsals with the ability to perform the songs and are not learning them at rehearsal (charts- ok) -You like Steely Dan -You're interested in occasional shows in middle TN (probably, mostly in Nashville, rehearsals as well). -You are available to do a few rehearsals (2 maybe 3 tops) before the first show to make sure everyone is on the same page and similar musical levels. We will also use these times to record something to give venues an idea of what we look/sound like performing the music. -After we know the songs, rehearsals would be mostly only necessary if we're adding songs to the repertoire. -I'm looking for a full band- horns, percussion, drums, bass, keys, guitars, vocals, background vocals -You like to play it just like the recording, note for note -You like to be musically professional and are not a jerk personally This is not a full-time gig. I can't guarantee any money up front, though it should be fairly easy to book and to get paid reasonably to perform when we get up and going. It should be fun. The plan is to get a list of players who can do the gig, send a setlist of songs to focus on, get together to rehearse/record a short video of a performance to use for booking, get some dates, and do it (right). If you're interested, let me know. If you reply with a video of your performance, that helps me see where you are musically a lot more than just text (can be performing anything, not just SD). This will take some time to organize and do it right, so I'd expect to be up and going by mid-late summer, maybe fall, of this year. I want to give everyone plenty of time to get the music together and make things as easy as possible. OK Nashville music community-> Let's do it!
