Description
*Keeps vehicles and outdoor equipment available for use by inspecting, testing and completing preventive maintenance to include engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and replacing filters. *Performs basic service for fleet to keep in running condition. Repairs and replacements can include light bulbs, flashers, and minor repairs. As skills are developed, will also perform higher levels of service and repairs that can include brakes, suspensions, and air conditioners. *Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints and conducting self-inspections. *Verifies vehicle service ability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems. *Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance. *Adjust vehicle component according to specifications (valves, carburetors, distributors, spark plug gaps,) using feeler gauges *Keeps Equipment, tools, and parts in good working condition by cleaning, maintaining, and repairing. *Lubricate equipment to allow proper functioning. *Test and inspect vehicles to determine malfunctions, to locate missing and broken parts, and to verify repairs, using diagnostic instruments. *Test mechanical equipment to ensure proper functioning. *Repair or replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts such as charging systems, water pumps, gears, carburetors, engines or engine components. *Disassemble equipment to inspect for deficiencies and reassemble equipment after repair. *Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt. *Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs. *Maintain an organized and orderly work area. Skills and Qualifications: *Ability to diagnose and repair electrical issues on a wide verity of systems. *General understanding of hydraulic systems and components such as pumps, hoses, and seals. *Dependability, Persistence, Time Management, Attendance, Independence, Safety Management, Problem Solving, Dealing with Complexity, Analyzing Information. *Knowledge of repairs and maintaining gasoline and diesel engines used to power equipment such as trucks, portable saws, lawn mowers, generators, compressors. Physical Requirements Able to follow directions from manager for assigned daily tasks and meet expectations for specific assignments. Ability to maneuver around/crawl under equipment to conduct repairs. Ability to work safely in all weather conditions. Must be able to properly lift and handle heavy loads up to 51 lbs. Ability to diagnose and trouble-shoot equipment visibly and audibly. Education/Experience Experience in vehicle/small engine maintenance and repair, including gas and diesels, hydraulic systems and electrical systems preferred. Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. 1-2 years of related experience and/or training preferred.
