Some years ago I was in a band (a joke of a band) where the female singer went out on her own and bought a PA system used. She got totally ripped off and no one else even knew she bought it. Afterwards, she insisted everyone in the band split the cost evenly and reimburse her. The idea was if anyone left the band they would get their money back at a a depreciated rate (yeah right). I laughed right in her face and told her I wasn't giving her a dime when I had no involvement in the decision to buy that PA and that the singer had the burden of buying the PA. We all had to buy our own instruments and no singer split the costs with us. When I said no, then so did the other members and soon after the band broke up and she got stuck with her grossly overpriced PA. Bottom line is this. Buy your own gear and everyone else do the same and there will be no issues like this one.
