The Relationship Between Viral Infections, Co-Morbidities, and Immune Resilience: The Battle Plan Immune health is the foundation for a long and vital life. The infectivity and effects of recent viral strains have put a spotlight on how deficits in immune function can threaten human health. However, available data indicates that the state of the host immune system and subsequent immune responses to viral insults are the major factors in determining the severity of disease for most people, regardless of vaccination status. This seminar will provide the clinician with a thorough overview of the human immune system and its immune response to viral insults. We will then provide a step-by-step process to determine and correct the main co-morbidities that have been shown to lead to more severe outcomes with viral infections, including dyslipidemia, hypertension, insulin resistance, adrenal dysfunction, and mitochondrial dysfunction. Specific protocols, including testing and test interpretation; dietary and supplemental recommendations; and lifestyle therapies to address each co-morbidity will be explained, as will office flow and follow-up procedures. Numerous case studies will also be reviewed to show clinicians how to implement these strategies and demonstrate their effectiveness.
