In an effort to honor and respect Chinese ritual and tradition, we are encouraging the following guidelines when in our space for this event: • Please wear muted colors with no loud patterns or designs. • Please leave personal belongings and electronics outside of the exhibition doors. • No food or beverage will be permitted. • Please remain silent while in the exhibition space until otherwise directed. About T'ai Chi: TAI CHI CHUAN (Or Taijiquan) IS A TRADITIONAL CHINESE EXERCISE practiced for health, relaxation, meditation and self-defense. The exercise is performed slowly and continuously, taking about ten minutes to complete one "round" or "set". It requires no special equipment and can be done in a small space. Although ancient in origin, Tai Chi is valuable and widely practiced in the modern world to help cope with the stresses of daily life. It is popular in China and other parts of the Orient where thousands of people, young and old alike, get together in the morning to do the exercise before beginning their daily activities. The value of Tai Chi as a health exercise and self-defense system lies in its emphasis on total body integration and developing "internal" strength, relaxation and coordination. It is a gentle exercise, which is suitable for people in a wide variety of physical conditions. The movements are adjustable to fit the health and strength levels of each individual.
