Description

The Rehab Explorer Program is for high school and Junior College students interested in a career in physical therapy. Come learn more about being a physical therapist and physical therapist assistant at OrthoIllinois. This program will provide an overview of what physical therapists and physical therapist assistants do, how much $ they make, what the requirements are to get into PT or PTA school, what courses you should take prior to applying, and other requirements needed for admission. Participants will be exposed to the physical therapy clinic and various techniques and tools utilized daily during physical therapy treatments. The goal is to spark interest and provide adequate information for those students interested in physical therapy or physical therapy assistant as a career. Snacks ONLY will be provided. Presenter:Jonathan Gallas, PT, PhD, DPT, CSCSLicensed Physical Therapist for 19 years, PT, PhD (Nova Southeastern University 2017), DPT (St. Ambrose University, Davenport, IA 2002)Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, CSCSDry Needling certified 8 years - American Dry Needling InstituteHeather Riley PTA, CEASHeather is a Physical Therapist Assistant who graduated from Blackhawk Technical College in 2009.She is a Clinical Instructor for PTA students for several surrounding schools, and is an APTA Level 1 and Level 2 Credentialed Clinical Instructor, and has Advanced Proficiency in Orthopedics issued by the APTA.She is also the SCCE (Site Coordinator for Clinical Education) for all PT/PTA/OT students for their Clinical Rotations at OrthoIllinois. Heather also serves as an Adjunct/Lab Instructor for the PTA program at Blackhawk.
