Description

This will be the first in a series of workshops covering time management tools for graduate students and postdocs. In addition to covering time management techniques (e.g. Covey's time mangement matrix, Pomodoro methods and effective working group techniques), this workshop will introduce students to the GRASP network. The purpose of this project is to match students to accountability working groups that will meet biweekly for work updates and working sessions. These groups will be encouraged to try out time management and accountability techniques. In spring, our groups will converge again and review what methods worked and which didn't. The workshop and GRASP program will be led by Eric Tysmtra, a PhD candidate in Ecology as a part of his Professors for the Future Fellowship project. This workshop is sponssored by the GradPathways Institute for Professional Development and the Professors for the Future Fellows program (Graduate Studies). Professors for the Future (PFTF) is a year-long competitive fellowship program designed to recognize and develop the leadership skills of outstanding graduate students and postdoctoral scholars who have demonstrated their commitment to professionalism, integrity, and academic service. This unique program, sponsored by Graduate Studies, focuses on the future challenges of graduate education, postdoctoral training, and the academy.
