WAYLAND, MA — The Wayland Board of Health approved a new mask advisory this week, and is asking local businesses and other public establishments to encourage visitors to mask up. Wayland's advisory is only that — there is no mandate like other nearby communities. But the Board of Health is looking for helping getting the message out that masks can reduce the spread of coronavirus. "The Board asks that all businesses and establishments in Wayland post a sign, in a clearly visible location, reminding people to wear a face covering," the town said in an advisory on Wednesday. Coronavirus is spreading at an unprecedented rate in Massachusetts. The state reported 27,612 new cases on Wednesday, setting a new daily pandemic record. Health officials are advising residents get fully vaccinated and wear high-quality KN95 and N95 masks in public to prevent even further spread. The Board of Health has created a model sign for local businesses to print out and post on storefronts.
