NORTH PORT, FL — Sarasota County Veterans Services is closing its office at North Port City Hall and moving to a new location Jan. 18. The office will move into the North Port Family Service Center at 6919 Outreach Way, the county said in a news release. Along with veterans' services, the Family Service Center in North Port also houses the Social Service Division, North Port Police Department's Homeless Outreach Team, AARP, the WIC program and other agencies. Additionally, its proximity to the Veterans of Foreign Wars post, located just south on Pan American Boulevard, will make it more convenient for veterans and their family members who frequent the new location, the county said. All the resources that were previously available through the Veterans Service Office at city hall will be available at the Family Service Center. Call 941-429-7214 to make an appointment. There won't be any changes to the Sarasota County Veterans Services offices at 2200 Ringling Blvd. in Sarasota and 4000 S. Tamiami Trail in Venice.
