Description

WAUKESHA, WI—A demonstration and flag waving is planned for downtown Waukesha on Thursday. The event marks the one-year anniversary of an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, according to a news release. On Jan. 6, 2021 the U.S. Capitol insurrection was caused by loyalists to Donald Trump who wanted to stop the certification of Joe Biden's election to the presidency. Mike Van Someren, candidate for Wisconsin's 5th Congressional District, will hold a press conference after the demonstration, the release said. Participants will wave US flags and signs for 30-45 minutes beginning at 5:30 p.m. at 336 Wisconsin Ave. The Waukesha demonstration is one of more than 300 events happening around the country, the release said. Attendees for the outdoor demonstration are encouraged to be vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19, and will be required to be masked at all times. The indoor press conference to follow will be limited only to speakers, including Van Someren, a small number of staff, and interested media, the release said.
