MELROSE, MA — A Melrose man accused with stabbing a state trooper two years ago was found not guilty due to a lack of criminal responsibility, according to Newburyport's Daily News. Nathan Aguilar was arrested in December of 2019 after prosecutors said he repeatedly stabbed Trooper Steven Torosian in the arm while Torosian was in his cruiser at an I-495 construction site in Amesbury. A person with a lack of criminal responsibility is essentially someone who has an inability to process the criminality of actions. The State Police Association of Massachusetts condemned the judge's decision in a statement released Wednesday. "Nathan Aguilar planned his attack," they wrote. "He drove to a construction worksite. He parked behind Trooper Stephen Torosian. He put on clothing to make himself appear to be part of the work crew. Then he violently entered Trooper Torosian's cruiser and stabbed him.
