MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A five-vehicle crash in Manatee County left four people injured Tuesday afternoon, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release. Around 3:40 p.m., a 35-year-old Bradenton man in a Subaru was driving east on State Road 684 when he turned left onto 101st Street West, entering the path of a Ford SUV driven by a 20-year-old Bradenton Beach man heading west on the same road, FHP said. The front of the SUV hit the Subaru's right side. To avoid the accident, a 75-year-old Bradenton man steered his Toyota SUV to the left, hitting a concrete barrier. After hitting the barrier, he continued across the eastbound lanes of S.R. 684 and onto the south shoulder, where he hit two vehicles parked in a lot, FHP said. There were no drivers in the parked pick-up truck and car at the time of the crash. The 75-year-old was critically injured in the accident. The 35-year-old and 20-year-old suffered serious injuries, while the Toyota's passenger, a 21-year-old Bradenton man, had minor injuries. FHP continues to investigate this traffic crash. Charges pending the completion of the investigation.
