AmeriCorps Cape Cod is proud to have organized and hosted annual MLK Day service events for over 20 years. These projects have addressed numerous community needs, including food security, education, homelessness, and the environment. MLK Day is the only federal holiday recognized as a National Day of Service – a "day on, not a day off." Observed on the third Monday in January every year, individuals are encouraged to volunteer together to improve their communities. For the past 26 years, AmeriCorps programs across the country have been charged with leading this effort. The goal of the day is to help preserve the health and beauty of Cape Cod's shorelines for future generations through education and action.
