Description

NEWTOWN, CT — Route 25 at Mile Hill Road in Newtown was temporarily closed early Wednesday following a crash in which a truck hit a utility pole, according to the state Department of Transportation. Details of the crash were not immediately available, but roads throughout the region were treacherous Wednesday due to surfaces receiving a coating of icy rain. In addition to the Newtown crash, Interstate 84 in Southbury was temporarily closed Wednesday due to crashes, as was a portion of Route 8 in Trumbull, and another portion of Route 8 in Naugatuck. #CTtraffic Troopers are responding to multiple accidents as ice covers many roadways. PLEASE reduce your speed as you commute to work this morning!— CT State Police (@CT_STATE_POLICE) January 5, 2022
