HAMDEN, CT — Hamden High School will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 6 due to a "significant staffing shortage," Superintendent Jody Ian Goeler announced Wednesday night.
Goeler made the announcement on Twitter, where he was asked in the thread why the school district didn't switch to distance learning for the first two weeks after the holiday break to give everyone time to quarantine and so students wouldn't miss any time.
"Only the Governor by Executive Order or the State Legislature by law can approve remote learning days," Goeler wrote in response. "Until such action, districts are required to have a minimum of 180 in person days."
