Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing Coming To Ripken Stadium

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — As the demand for increased COVID-19 testing continues, the Harford County Health Department, in partnership with University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health, Omnipoynt Solutions, Dalex Laboratories, Rover Labs, and Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium, will offer drive-thru COVID-19 testing to interested residents ages two and older starting Monday, Jan. 10. Testing will run Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the parking lot of Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium on 873 Long Drive in Aberdeen. Interested people will receive two tests, one rapid antigen that will provide results in about 15 minutes and one PCR saliva test that will provide a confirmatory lab result within 24-48 hours. Participants are asked to not eat, drink, smoke, chew gum, or use oral products, such as toothpaste and mouth rinse, or nasal gel products for at least 30 minutes prior to collecting the saliva specimen. They'll then be emailed the results of their PCR test. Tests will be provided at no out-of-pocket cost, however; people will be asked to bring their insurance card, and if they are uninsured, bring their government-issued identification document. Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with the child's insuranceinformation, if applicable. We ask that individuals remain in their cars at all times and wear a mask. In addition, this site is handicap accessible. Registration is not required and people do not need to be a Harford County Resident to receive a test. If inclement weather occurs, the testing site will operate on the same schedule as Harford County Public Schools. If the schools close, then the testing site will close. If the schools are delayed, then the testing site will also have a delayed opening. Due to increased demand, wait times may vary. "Testing continues to be critical in data collection and the overall health and well-being of our residents of Harford County," said Acting Health Officer Marcy Austin. "We have the tools to fight COVID-19 and testing is just one risk-reduction strategy to decrease the chances of COVID-19 transmission, along with getting vaccinated and boosted, practicing proper hygiene, wearing a mask, and staying socially distant."
