LONG VALLEY, NJ — The restoration of the Mary statue at St. Mark's Church and the construction of a gate at School Lunch Organic Farm, were community projects that two of Washington Township's newest Eagle Scouts, brought to fruition. Christopher Mullin, who refurbished the statue and prayer area; and London Hart who built the gate with the help of fellow Scouts, both of Long Valley Troop 236, were officially celebrated for their achievements at their Eagle Scout Ceremony on Jan. 2. During the event at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, Washington Township Mayor Matt Murello presented both of them with proclamations from the township. State Senator Anthony Bucco, R-25th Dist. and Morris County Sheriff James Gannon, were among dignitaries and the Scouts' families and friends, for the celebration. Bucco, as well as Murello offered their congratulations to the Scouts on Facebook posts. "Please join me in congratulating London and Chris and their families on their accomplishment," Murello said. "Best of luck gentlemen," Bucco added. "You have very bright futures." Questions or comments about this story? Have a news tip? Contact me at: [email protected].
