ORLAND PARK, IL — The Orland Park Public Library was awarded $8,000 to bring new programs and speakers to the south suburban community library last month. The check, from The Friends of the Orland Park Library, was given at the library's annual holiday music concert. With the extra money, library officials told Patch they plan to increase their educational classes, story times and speaker events. Another project the Friends of the Orland Park Library spearhead is the Recycled Reads initiative. While the library has hundreds of thousands of items available for residents to check out, officials said they still welcome gently-used books, DVDs and Blu-Ray materials from those whose collection has outgrown their space. Donations are also sometimes tax-deductible, a library spokeswoman said. Friends of the Orland Park Library pay $5 membership dues and are actively looking for new members. Email [email protected] to sign-up or visit the library's 14921 South Ravinia Avenue location.
