JOLIET, IL — A Will County judge set bail at $55,000 for a 34-year-old Joliet man who held his victim against his bed trying to strangle her with both hands, according to Joliet police. Kevin Cole, who lives in the 600 block of Wheeler Avenue, vowed to kill the woman, police reports show. The domestic violence happened around 5:55 a.m. Wednesday at Cole's residence, Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English indicated. Cole was taken away in handcuffs on charges of aggravated domestic battery. He remained in the county detention facility Thursday night, unable to post the necessary 10 percent. "During an argument, Cole held the victim to a bed at which time he began to strangle her with both hands, making it difficult for the victim to breathe," Joliet police reports show. "Cole then struck the victim multiple times in the head. Cole threatened to kill the victim." Police said that Cole's victim managed to escape the residence to call 911. The victim suffered minor injuries during the beating, according to police reports.
