Press release from the City of Evanston: 01/05/2022 3:49 PM Virtual Town Hall, January 9 As part of the search for Evanston's next city manager, community members are invited to meet candidates selected as finalists for the position during a virtual community town hall held via Zoom on Sunday, January 9, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Candidates selected as finalists include: Michael Jasso, Assistant City Manager, City of Sacramento Daniel Ramos, Deputy City Administrator, City of Baltimore The virtual town hall will include question and answer sessions with each candidate, with a short break in between. Daniel Ramos's session will begin at 4 p.m. and Michael Jasso's session will begin at 5 p.m. Community members can submit questions for candidates in advance online or by calling or texting 847-448-4311. Meet the Candidates Michael Jasso, Assistant City Manager, City of Sacramento Michael Jasso is currently the Assistant City Manager for the City of Sacramento. He also has held the positions of Director for Cook County's Bureau of Economic Development, Managing Deputy Commissioner for Chicago's Department of Housing and Economic Development, and other government/private sector positions. Some of his Sacramento accomplishments include developing the City's first inclusive Economic and Community Development Investment Committee of external Sacramento stakeholders to provide guidance and review of all economic development projects, programs and policies. He also oversaw the creation of neighborhood development teams to focus efforts on key commercial corridors. He has a BA in Architecture from Princeton University and a Master's Degree in International Management/Real Estate from the University of Texas. Daniel Ramos, Deputy City Administrator, City of Baltimore Daniel Ramos is currently the Deputy City Administrator for the City of Baltimore. He has been with the City of Baltimore for more than 8 years, and has held many key management roles in his tenure. In his current role, he has been the lead advisor on all budget, operational and policy issues related to transportation, performance management, and internal operations. He has created a cash assistance and small business rebate program to provide relief to residents and businesses. He led the City's COVID relief efforts and led the City's efforts to eliminate a $100 million capital backlog and improve the City's facilities. He has a BA in International Studies from John Hopkins University and is expected to receive his Master's Degree in Business Administration from John Hopkins this spring.
