AURORA, IL — Sub-zero temperatures in the forecast for the next few days are forcing residents to reconsider leaving their houses. But for people who might not have access to a heated space, city officials have opened an emergency 24-hour warming center at the Aurora Transportation Center. Located at 233 N. Broadway, the center will remain open around the clock until early Saturday. City staff or security guards will be on-site at all times, officials announced Thursday. All guests at the warming center will be required to take a COVID-19 health screening upon entering, wear masks and social distance. The facility has accessible bathrooms, hand sanitizing stations and vending machines. The city will also provide visitors with snacks and water.
