MECKLENBURG COUNTY — The Mecklenburg County Alcoholic Beverage Control Board is changing its hours due to low-staffing, citing COVID-19 exposures.
Beginning on Jan. 10, all 29 stores in Mecklenburg County will open at 12:30 p.m. and stay open until 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday indefinitely, according to the board.
"We are committed to serving our customers and protecting the health and wellbeing of the Board's employees," Keva Walton, CEO, said.
Walton explained this move helps prevent the stores from closing.
"We will continue to monitor changing conditions closely and make necessary changes to safely and effectively manage stores to serve our customers," he said.
The board says some store associates have worked seven days a week meet the significantly elevated retail and mixed beverage demand.
Year-to-date, overall sales are up 12 percent over prior year according to the board.
