COBB COUNTY, GA — After meeting with public health officials, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners will host its next few meetings via teleconference instead of in person, according to a county news release. The COVID-19 declaration of emergency signed by Cobb BOC Chairwoman Lisa Cupid last month authorized the county to conduct meetings via teleconference as long as they comply with the state's Open Meetings Act. The next three meetings are now scheduled to be held virtually: Board of Commissioners Work Session: Monday, Jan. 10 at 9 a.m.Board of Commissioners Meeting: Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 9 a.m.Board of Commissioners Work Session: Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 1:30 p.m."The dramatic rise in COVID-19 cases in the county has prompted public health officials to recommend holding meetings virtually to avoid bringing people into close contact," the news release said. Public participation in public hearings and public comment will still be available by registering in advance to speak at Tuesday's regular meeting. You can do so online at this link. You can livestream meetings on CobbTV's cable channel, online at cobbcounty.org/CobbTV or on the county's YouTube channel at youtube.com/user/cobbcountygovt.
