Tuscaloosa Academy Students Give Back Through Service Projects

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Seventh and eighth grade students at Tuscaloosa Academy recently raised more than $1,000 for the Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter, which is just one of the acts of goodness to come out of the school's National Geographic Service Learning projects. The school said on Thursday that the initiative allows students to see how their own interests can be turned into action, empowering them to make a positive change in their communities. Other efforts by TA student groups include: Collecting donations to help the homeless at the Salvation Army.Raising $400 for The Mental Health Project: Active Minds, which provides resources for suicide prevention in young people. Packing boxes and gathering donations for the West Alabama Food Bank. Holding a toy drive to help families who our struggling during the holiday season.
